Muhammad Bashir is physically challenged individual. He has been suffering Mobility-Moving Disability like Muscular dystrophy. He has been suffering in this disability since last 20 years. He did a lot of treatment but he could not return in his previous life. He is very hardworking and brave man. He has been doing service from very first day of disability. He has worked as employee in different Public call office in chakwal city. He pays his duty on counter of PCO and he attends each and every type of customer. He lives in relative home and he pay rent to his relative. He is a single person and he could not do marriage due to his disability.
Type of disability (and how this was acquired, if appropriate):
He has been suffering Mobility-Moving Disability like Muscular dystrophy since last 20 years. He cannot walk properly. He walks with stick and he goes to shop and home with the support of any person.
How has this impacted on opportunity to gain a livelihood?
He cannot walk properly but he did not like begging. He goes to shop on motor bike rakshah. He has been running his shop in bus stand now. Although PCO work has been down now a days but he did not want to take any amount from any one. He thought different ideas but he could not implement on it due to his disability. So he decided to take mobile cards of each company so that he could get extra income for meet monthly expenses. According to Bashir, mobile cards of amount 5000 Rs will increase 20 % his monthly income and it will be better earning to him. He decided to take mobile cards of each company so that his family could not suffer more.
How has LRC supported?
Mr. Bashir had contacted with DEAP Development Organization
Chakwal some month ago and he shared
his less earning issue with DEAP staff. DEAP is civil
society organization working on Education, Health, Human
Rights, Water & Sanitation and Animal & Forest Rights in
Chakwal. DEAP has established physiotherapy center also for
treatment of disable persons of Chakwal. DEAP has its own
child sponsorship program to support poor, needy, orphan but
intelligent students of Govt. Schools. All sponsor children
are getting free copies, stationaries on monthly basis and
free uniform on biannual basis. Three DEAP academies are
providing free evening tuition to all sponsor children at
evening time.
DEAP and LCD Islamabad are working with mutual understanding
in Chakwal. LRC found Mr. Bashir quite concerned about his
economical instability. He requested LRC to provide 5000 PKR
on credit to purchase the mobile cards from franchises of
different companies. LRC provided him with requested finance
and build his financial
capacity to make payment for new business. Now he is happy
because his daily sale has been increased. He will reimburse
the loan in installments.
Any other information:
Mr. Bashir has also started to charge cell phone on commercial basis. He take amount from customer for charging each cell phone. He has increased his income in this way.

situation. He says a disable man can also live a normal life
if he do efforts and leave the results on Allah.
